Payouts and fees
Short and transparent: what a guest pays, what reaches the recipient and what a payout to the bank costs.
For guests
- You pay the tip plus the fee of our payment provider Stripe (2.9 % + CHF 0.30).
- Example: CHF 10 tip → you pay CHF 10.61. You always see the amount before paying.
- Pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or TWINT.
For recipients in Switzerland and the EU
- 95 % of every tip goes to you, 5 % is the Tipbetween platform fee.
- After 24 hours the tip is in your balance and can be paid out.
- Before every payout you see the exact breakdown and confirm it. Nothing is deducted without your consent.
- The money reaches your account 1–3 business days after the payout.
What a payout to the bank costs
Stripe charges costs for every payout account. We pass them on without any markup:
CHF 2.16 (EU: EUR 2.35), once per calendar month in which you pay out.
If you pay out several times in the same month, it is charged only once.
CHF 0.25 + 0.25 % per payout (EU: EUR 0.28 + 0.25 %).
At least CHF 5 or EUR 5 must go to the bank. Smaller amounts keep accumulating.

The account fee counts only once per month. Paying out quarterly saves the most: CHF 300 in one payout gives CHF 296.84, paid out monthly it would be CHF 292.02.
Payout schedule
- You choose in the app: pay out yourself any time, or automatically every month or quarter.
- At the latest 80 days after a payment it is paid out automatically (Stripe holds funds for at most 90 days).
- If the balance does not cover the costs by then, it is not paid out and is forfeited (terms section 4.3). The same applies if no payout account has been set up by then. We notify you at least 14 days in advance by email and in the app.
For recipients in the USA

- You always receive 100% of your tips. Nothing is deducted, not even payout costs.
- The guest pays the 7 % platform fee and the payment fee on top: USD 10 tip → USD 11.33.
- Payouts happen automatically at most once a month, as soon as about USD 50 in tips have come together. Until then your balance is kept in full.
- It is paid out in any case after about 23 months at the latest. Balances never expire in the USA.

Do I pay the account fee for every payout?›
No. It is charged at most once per calendar month, no matter how often you pay out that month.
Does Tipbetween earn money on payout costs?›
No. We pass Stripe’s costs on without a markup. Our income is the 5% platform fee.
When is the money in my account?›
Tips can be paid out after 24 hours. After the payout it takes 1–3 business days.
How can I save costs?›
Pay out less often: monthly or quarterly instead of after every tip.
Does the business get part of my tip?›
No. A tip to you belongs to you. Tips guests give to the business go to the business.
Does this also apply in the USA?›
The USA has its own rules: 100% for you, no payout costs, monthly payouts from about USD 50.
